Is Life the Same for Everyone?

Hello everyone! In today's book review, I will be sharing my thoughts on a sad and thought-provoking story.

The Dog Who Dared to Dream by Sun-Mi Hwang is a story about a dog named Scraggly who was an outcast in her family because of her fur colour. In this story, we explore many different aspects of life. For example, learning to deal with loneliness. Scraggly's family was taken from her at a young age and despite trying to find them, it was to no avail. As she grew older, she gets to experienced more of such loneliness such as when her children was taken away and even when the old man disappear for a few days. Such is the aspect of life. In life, we walk alone. We do have our family with us from time to time but ultimately, the journey is yours alone to walk. Hence, I feel that in this aspect, it was portrayed fairly well. The loss of family and friends truly hits me like a truck.

Additionally, we also deal with the process of ageing. Ageing is a natural process of life. From the story, we can see how growing old overcomes us as a person/animal. It is sad but it is also the truth. This is something that cannot be changed but rather to face it bravely.

Furthermore, we also deal with other life principles such as regret. Regret for taking an action too late or even making a wrong decision but I suppose this is part of life as well. The choices that we made in life sometimes leaves a regret in us. What matters most is how to make the most out of it.

Overall, this was a good read and although the story as a whole was bittersweet, it was able to portray clearly what life truly is all about.
