What will you do if you found out that you are going to die very soon? Will you wish for one item to disappear from the world in exchange for 1 more day of life or otherwise?

If Cats Disappeared From The World by Genki Kawamura talks about the life of a young man who found out that he will be dying soon and the Devil offers him the opportunity to extend his life for 1 more day if he agrees for 1 item (subject to the Devil's choice) to disappear from the world.
In the story, we explore many different ideas such as the meaning of life and death, relationships with your loved ones and regrets through the young man's life. Things happened for a reason. As I read on, it does brings about many questions that I have never thought of in my life. What will happen if I made that particular item disappear. Will it be catastrophic or people will continue to live on normally? This is one of the interesting point I like about the story.
On the side note, you might be wondering why I refer him as the young man but that is because I realise that his name was never mentioned in the novel or maybe I have missed out? The story is written from a first person point-of-view hence, it puts the reader in his position which I am fond of that.
The story taught me the importance of living and not just living on a daily basis but rather, enjoy what I do everyday because I will never know what will happen the next day. Additionally, I should also learn to treasure and cherish my loved ones when they are still around because if I only realise that when they are gone, it will be too late for me to do anything. If there are wounds between me and my loved ones, try to mend it and not just leave it hanging there. Lastly, life will be filled with regrets but what matters most is that I must not be held back by them. Move on and live happily because that is what matters.
This story has provide me with many giveaways. Although the story is written similarly to a YA Fiction. I feel that it does not affects the story on the whole.
Overall, this was a good read and I highly recommend you to try it.
