In today's book review, I will be giving my thoughts on the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Official Novelisation written by Rae Carson. Being a Star Wars fan from young, I was really looking forward to reading this book as movie novels always able to provide a more in-depth explanation that movies sometimes fails to which in this case, it helps a lot. Given the time constraint, movies are restricted to a certain amount of hours but with books, there is no limit.
Additionally, we are able to experience what the characters are feeling through the words in the novel. Hence, it is definitely worthwhile to read the book and even better if you had already watched the movie because as you read, scenes from the movie will be brought alive in your mind and with the novel, we get to explore things that are difficult to show through the movie. For example, the characters' thoughts.
Furthermore, there were a few expanded scenes in the novel which i feels that is a nice touch to the movie. Although there are still stuff left unexplained, there is nothing much we can do since the novel has to follow closely with the movie with the exception of a few more scenes. However, I would definitely want more if it is in written form. I personally do not mind having more explanations and more scenes in the novel which makes the story more complete even if it was not shown in the movie. Stories about Snoke's history and Palpatine's resurrection would definitely make the story more complete and better instead of now, we are faced with loopholes and we can only rely on fan-theories.
Overall, this was a pleasant and fast read, and I highly recommends it for any Star Wars fan to give it a shot.
